Default DD with a TSP 233/239 Cam?

How bad is this cam on a DD. Please be honest, lol? I am looking at a members car that has this cam and well I drive 20k a year so I need to know. I love the way it sounds, but with me being rusty at a M6 and having this cam I don't want t obe stalling out every 20 feet.

I have this cam with a M6, I would not say it is a daily driver. It sounds great but the gas mileage will kill you, and I hate being stuck in traffic idling at 1100. It is really strong from 3000-6500.

I was gonna say the same thing, but I have my idle at 900 and it isn't to bad with my 244/248. you are gonna want some gears though if you want to consider it for a DD. Otherwise your "every 20 feet" thing will be a true nightmare.
Check into some 4.10's or maybe 3.73's, but like racecar said the cam alone will gulp some gas, and then you put some taller gears on top of that... you do the math

You will be fine so long as you get some 3.73's or 4.10's and a good tune.

BTW: I daily drive the MS3 with a 4k stall and it works wonderfully for me.

Don't worry about being rusty with the clutch, that will work itself out in a couple weeks while you will be stuck with the cam.

I have that cam, first version with 4:10 in a 12 bolt and a spec 3. As long as you have a good tune, you'll be fine. TSP cams seem to be notorious for idle problems. Only problem I have is that I need to let the car idle for about 30 seconds when I start it or it will high idle. After that it sits at 950 without a problem and idles mean. It was my DD untill recently when I bought another car and I was fine.

Everyone has their own definition of "streetable." You may want to drive someone elses car to see for yourself. I'll admit when I first got mine done I was happy and told myself I could drive it every day. Dont get me wrong, I could. But every once in a while I would tell myself... "****, I wish I had a POS auto I could drive around." Sometime I just plane didn't want to drive it and would make other people drive. For that reason and gas prices through the roof.

Hope that helps.

Damn you guys got me kinda worried...I know the guy said it surges some at low rpms in first, which with a good tune it should stop. He also said it idels fine at 850-900 rpms. He said it won't stall out or anything like that. So how will it act in traffic? I mean is it just gonna be a loud lopey car or is it some how gonna want to stall out all the time, etc?

Sucks cause I am kinda short on cash so I wanted to save up for a 12 bolt, but if it needs gears that bad I'll just have t oget some 4.10s installed in the 10.

I would say drive the car and see how you like it. but think long term daily driver. My car does ok in traffic once it's warmed up. Dont go and drive the car thinking you can fix all idle problems though, that will be a mistake, the cam is just too big for that.

You might be really happy with it too though, it will all be your choice It's not like the car is going to die on you every 10 seconds.

So your saying with the cam being aggressive it will die on me? Will I have to keep hit the gas or something? I can't have a car stalling out on me....then agai nthe owner said the only way it would stall is from me being rusty with a manual tranny.
