Default 5.3 lingenfelter cam

i am building a 5.3 engine and am currently trying to find the best cam to unleash this engines full potential with a good lopey idle. i saw the lingenfelter website and saw several cam choices:
212/218 .522/.529 114 lsa
216/220 .525/.532 114 lsa
212/218 .558/.563 115 lsa
207/220 .573/.580 118.5 lsa

also, can i use the stock valvetrain with the addition of ls6 valvesprings in this engine? stock pushrods, rockers, and lifters with these cams?

My first reaction is that they are all too small. Why not a 224 on a 114 with some decent springs/pushrods, etc.?

alot of people haveing good luck with the 224 cam, need 918's with it, i run a 223 225 564 571 114 cam, the 114 will be easier to tune then the 112lsa, is this in a rcsb or ecsb truck? if its a ecsb then the lower duration is better due to the weight of the ecsb truck and the power level start is lower.

this 5.3 engine is going to be in a 3300# small 1950 chevy truck. i heard that these motors loose a lot of the low end if the cam is bigger than 224/224. am i wrong? i want this truck to smoke the tires when i want it to and have an awesome idle, it is not going to de a daily driver, just a cruiser and take it to shows, no track use

50 chevy, go to www.vincihighperformance.com, find the cam selection page and click on sound bytes. Along with Lingenfelter, Vinci has some great grinds that will certainly accomplish your goals.

If you want a lumpy idle and a cheap package get the Hot Cam package from www.sdpc2000.com

I have a 73 camero and im going with a trimec t56 and 02 5.3 but im trying to get the most horse power out of it. I heard what the ls6 hot cam and headers and a cooler air intake gets u about 506 to the wheels, but i also heard alot of bad things about the ls6 hot cam. However my question is: I would like to know whats is the best cam i should go with for my 73 camero, and would like it to be a daily driver?

none of those cams will give your idle any chop at all. i wouldnt even bother puting one of those cam in. go for a 228R or somthing along those lines

the 5.3 heads have small intake valves, so u'd want a reverse split cam, or at the least a single duration cam... even the stock 5.3 cam is a reverse spilt... i'd go with something like a 218/214, on a 112... remember its a small engine, it doesn't need alot of duration, especially if u want big tq in a truck...

is this gonna b carbed or efi? 220-224 is a good place to start. tight lsa helps with the low end and also gets the idle u want.
