solid roller woe's

well i am down to the final assemby of my solid roller 408. pushrods are all i have left to order and i can say i am 100% lost. i have a 6.800-7.800 length adjustable pushrod. I just dont have a clue where to go from here.

my longblock is assembled. heavily CNC'ed LS6 heads milled to 59cc's. 1.55OD springs. .040 cometic gaskets. i am using Comp adjstable shaftmount rockers, Crower Extreme duty solid lifters, cam is a custom Bullet race grind 249/254 704/704@.050 on a 113lsa (these are the specs i was given). i would love for someone to just be able to tell me what i need, i dont figure its gonna be that easy.

if some one could give me directons on how to go about this i would greatly appreciate it.

PS. i would even consider trading my solid roller setup (heads, 2 cams, lifters, shaft mount rockers, valve cover spacers and all) for a good hydraulic setup (heads, cam , lifters, pushrods, and rockers).

Solid is pretty easy....
1) find the range of the adjuster, set it in the middle
2) Rotate the crank until the intake is on the nose of the cam or highest lift point
3) Drop the pushrod in the exhaust side of same cylinder
4) Shorten or lengthen until the rocker mounting shaft will just sit flat
Once the pushrod is adjusted where 1/2 way in and out the pair of rockers will sit nicely on the cradle than measure.
5) Rotate the engine until the exhaust lobe is on the nose and drop the pushrod length checker in the matching intake and do the process again.

double post

Thanks. i hope it is as easy as it sounds. should the intake and exhaust pushrods be the same size?

Yes as long as the valve stem height is identical.

am i supposed to have the springs on or off while doing this? do i need a test spring? sorry for all the questions but this is my first LSX solid roller setup.

Just use your normal springs and subtract the desired lash amount from the pushrod checker length....
Pushrod checker 8.120
Lash: .016
Order 8.100 pushrods

here is my problem, to get the shaft to sit flat the pushrod checker doesnt go into the rocker cup. if i get it into the rocker cup the shaft wont sit flat.

You need to shorten the pushrod.

i am coming out to 7.8 with the pushrod checker extended all the way out. at 1/2 in and out he pair of rockers sit in the cradle well and the pushrod checker is keeping contact with the cup on the rocker and the lifter. does this sound right?

i am goin to keep testing it out. this is something i dont wan to screw up.

Yes, sounds right on..
