Patriot Performance 243's...with pics!

I just got back my cnc’d 243’s from Patriot Performance! Thanks Gunnan and Patriot Performance. You all really came through for me on these heads. I couldn’t have asked for better customer service. I even got a calendar, GM multi layer steel gaskets, and bolts included.

I actually bought these heads new from someone on this board for a pretty decent price. A few days after I received them, Patriot and everyone else started coming out with fantastic deals for 243’s. I was planning on porting them myself, but couldn’t resist having them done at a really great price. Before I sent them out I polished the combustion chamber up a bit. There’s no way I could have done as good of a job on the porting, I’m glad I sent them out!

I got them mill 10 thousands, 5 angle valve job with 2.02 and 1.57 ferrea valves. The porting looks much better in person than in these pictures. Everything is very consistent. I could take a picture of one exhaust port and it’d be the exact same as another one. I don’t have the flow sheet here at work, but I remember that they flowed 303.5 at 600 lift on the intake.

I’m going to hand finish these heads to get rid of the track lines from the cnc machine and will post pics of those too. I’ll probably leave the intake as is, but will do some work to the exhaust to make it really smooth.

Thanks again Gunnar!

Absolutely. I'll be doing a before and after dyno.

Glad you like the heads. Thank you for your purchase and putting up the pics. These heads have been selling very well. If you get a chance, post the numbers from your flow sheet. We are sure that you will be very happy with these heads. We strive to provide the best heads, parts, service, and price.

They look awesome! I can't wait until I get mine done by them!

What intake will you be using? A ported FAST intake is just barely capable of flowing enough air for AFR 205's.

I'll be using the stock LS1 until I have enough for a 90/90 combo. I'll prolly port match the intake to my heads while I have it all apart too.

If anyone's interested the flow numbers were:

______Intake__Exhaust

.100___73.7____61.9
.200___141.8___120.6
.300___205.5___160.5
.400___245.2___199.7
.500___282.8___215.6
.550___294.3___220.9
.600___303.5___225.6

How do these numbers look?

Hey guys,

Just wanted to give an update. I've finished hand porting and I'm really pleased with the results. I didn't change the port design with exception of slightly opening up different parts. Here's a comparison of the combustion chamber:

I also have a concern about the valve sizes. The Ferrea's (sp?) go down into the piston farther than the stockers. I measured about a .040 difference.

I'm thinking of getting the valves onto a lathe and not worrying about it. I might get about .020 taken out from the bottom since the valve job took out around .010 to .020. Any ideas on that? I guess I could also lap the valve which I think might also take material from the valve seat.

Here are some more pics of the final result.

Sorry if you've answered this before, Gunnar, but what are the intake runner volumes on the CNC'd 243's. Also how're the Predator heads coming?

Thx
