Default Out with the Camaro....

In with the Z06 vette. Well I put a lot of cash in the camaro and I am unhappy with the performance. The car didn't pull hard enough to satisfy my hunger. I am going to buy a Le Mans blue 2004 ZO6 and bolt the ATI stage 2 procharger on it. It supposedly gives a solid 620hp at the flywheel. I hope this car will satisfy me. My wife said if it doesn't I can't get another car for a long time.

Ever since I rode in a 800+ HP supra I have wanted a car that pulls harder up top. I am not sure this car will do that but I am sure it will kill it in the quarter on the track.

seems like you're jumping the gun a little bit...Try a different cam, FAST 90mm and some Longtubes and see how it is, or go FI on the camaro...You're only going to be throwing your money away, and the Z06 is basically the same ballpark as the camaro...

Do what you want, but do yourself a favor first and sleep on it...

Going by the mods listed in your sig, you have a better flowing exhaust than you do intake, yet your cam has a larger exhaust duration. That makes absolutely no sense. You're not utilizing the cam at all as it was meant to (for restrictive exhaust setups). Try AT LEAST a 230's duration cam and for God sake's put a 90/90 setup on there. You're not satisfied with your setup b/c it's not set up properly. You have some really good heads, but you have a crap intake setup. Understand how everything works together, use components that complement each other as well as utilize each part's strong points, and then make a decision. Not bashing you, hopefully saving you from an uninformed decision.

ahem. If you have the cash go with a Z06. I would. I would hate to let my car go but if I could get a Z06 I would in a heartbeat, especially if I had plans to S/C it. It's lighter and will typically be faster than your camaro with equal mods. Cant go wrong with EB either.

Ditch that cam and go FI on the camaro. Unless you plan on paying for the z06 cash, financing is complete and utter bullshit.

um excuse me??

i traded in my 2001 RS/Z28 that was pimped out for my 2002 Z06... now the Z06 has the 408 and a 250 shot... along with better gear ratios.. better aerodynamics... better interior... lots of nicer parts(more expensive to replace ) and an all around NICER car....

if i had to make the decision again it would be the exact same.. this car has held its value since i bought it... my camaro dropped 4 grand in value 5 months after i sold it...i felt bad for whoever bought it.. (it sold the next day off the lot)

I don't think orangeapeel meant that all z06's are a waste of cash, but that this person selling their camaro for a z06 for his reasons listed would be a total waste.. his mods are contradictive, and if he just worked with it a little, that'd be a much more efficient use of funds.

Of course, my money tree needs some serious miracle grow after this recent month's mod list.. if I had an endless cash source I'd consider a Z06... tho the lack of the top would probably deter me to a regular C6.

I disagree, a cam swap is not going to give him the dramatic power increase he's looking for.

I think he needs more cowbell..... (see artics sig)
The cam is a large piece of the puzzle...youve got all that cash tied up in your Camaro, now add just a bit more and finish it right...youre 90% there. How about f/i?

Yeah, he is right.

He was comparing apples to apples. You have the same motor essentially, and the power that he was not getting from his camaro will not change for $15k+ in a differnt body style. If you had the difference in what he was going or is going to pay for that Z06 to put into any Ls1 camaro...It would rule the street/track. He could put a low compression 427 with 22#'s of ATI boost in there and be knocking on the 1000rwhp door for about 12-15 grand.

FWIW* I would buy a Z06 because they are none other than bad ***. And you are more than right about the holding their value.

I was definitely not putting down the vette by any means. I just was boggled that he was under the wrong impression about power.

His cam is a HUGE restriction on his current setup. A camswap to a F15, Magic Stick, or other would net him INCREDIBLE gains on his current setup. The other guys have already explained it so I won't be redundant, but his setup is, if I can make an analogy, like putting a turd in a bucket of gold.

I think the real problem is that he rode in a 800+ hp Supra and now he's comparing the way that feels to his car. The other problem is the pull from a turbo car feels stronger then the pull from a n/a car.

very true...A car with no power until 4000rpms and then a sudden burst of 30psi will feel like a rocket...The camarrow has a nice smooth powerband, and Torque off idle, which is why it won't feel anything like the Supra...

The real problem is that I'd bet he didn't break 400hp on the dyno with mods that could have put him (if set up correctly) well over that mark. And now, he's going to move on to another car, and possibly do the same thing.
