Default TREX drivability

T-rex drivability untuned is greay car idles at 900 a lil low but the tales of it being undrivable for a daily driver can be put to rest....no tune and my car is running pretty good takes like 15 sec to warm up and its good once tuned i cant wait for the power to come in!!

If your thinking about doing this cam, do it it is amazing power and drives smooth and sounds BADASS...EVEYONE LOOKS!

Driveabilitly will vary from person to person. On an M6 it really isnt all that bad even on stock gears imo.

A4 with stock TC, wouldn't recomend it, with nice stall, would be fine. With an M6, I wouldn't recomend anything under 4.10's. You will have bucking issues with anything less IMO, I have just a bit even with my 4.10's at low RPM.

It is pointless to put a cam in a stock converter A4.. much less a monster like the t-rex

I got mine to idle at 600 warmed up on an untuned, unstalled auto.
First start up was last week, and every start up since is the same. Haven't driven it yet though b/c it's apart for the converter now.

u think i could get it to drive(to point A to B) with a 4000+ stall and stock tune with the idle up a lil?

i was under the impression that if i put a t-rex in a stock tuned car that i wouldn't be able to put it into drive and go without it stallin out on me?

Man, I guess my car is a big fat turd muffin then because I had my car tuned very well before the cam swap, and the idle/drivability still was absolutely atrocious. I tried everything from the stock tune file to a tune file out of an almost identical camaro and it still was one of the worst driving experiences I've ever had.

Once I got it tuned it was a different story, but seriously you guys are either lying out your teeth or just plain lucky that you have that type of experience with an untuned T-Rex much less with an A4.

Well, like I said, mine is still untuned, and was never put into gear, so I can't say anything about drivability. Plus, I wouldn't even try it with a stock stall either way. But with a heavy stock converter, I was lucky and it actually did idle at 600 after it warmed up. I hope to have the video up eventually. I contribute my luck with idle mainly to my TB. I had Crazy Man here on the boards port the hell out of it, and the car didn't die once or really struggle at all...But my luck in this case seems to be a rarity

How long have you had the cam installed? If you haven't been daily driving it for at least a month, I think you should wait a bit longer before declaring that it's daily drivable without a tune. Just because it's possible doesn't mean it's a good idea. I could drive my car around without an air filter, but that wouldn't be very smart.

I'm glad your happy with the cam, but I don't think it's a good idea to tell everyone that "the tales of it being undrivable for a daily driver can be put to rest." That may be true in theory in some cases, but certainly not in practice.

So is the trex cam daily drivable, if so, would it be with 3:73's, with a good stall on an a4? and if that is a yes, then where would my rpm's be @ if I was cruisin 60mph on the highway?

That all depends on how high your tolerance is for things. It's all relative to each person. I haven't driven mine yet, so I don't even know how much I will be able to handle. But it ain't my daily driver anyway...

why doesn't someone with a T-rex just take a vid of them driving the thing around town and let the rest of us decide if we think it qualifies as daily driver

There's no way that would allow anyone to make an accurate assessment of how drivable a car is or isn't. You have to "feel" the car to understand how it drives.
