Default overheating and have low oil presure, what is the problem???

I drove about 3 miles to a friends house, parked the car for about 30 seconds, then drove back 3 miles to my house.

this was after the car had been sitting over night

so by the time i get back to my house the "CHECK GUAGES" light is on and im touching red on the temp guage, and my oil pressure is at about 20.

i get out, open the hood and it doesn't really feel any hotter than usual and it seemed to be driving just like normal

does anybody know what the probelm is???

thanks,
Nick

Have you checked the water level? If its full it could be the thermostat sticking, since it heated up so rapidly. An over heated engine will make the oil thin more thus reducing oil pressure. Did you hear any boiling going on when you parked it?

that was a nice call, the thermostat was stuck, not letting water flow correctly, got it replaced and that fixed it perfectly Thanks!!!
