no. Only fits LSx engines 99 and up. I think 97-98 had different head bolt patterns. So the fits would be 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0 truck, 5.7L(LS1/6), 6.0L(LS2). All aftermartket LSx blocks.

The LSX engines have nothing in common with the older blocks.

The valvecover bolt pattern was different on the 97/98s, but the head bolts are the same.

Actually the bore spacing is the same I belive and thats where the similarities end, but no parts will phsically interchange.

Other than bore centers, I think the only other thing in common with the two engines is the crank journal sizes.

Someone should develop LS* style heads that bolt on the sbc. They would make a killing.
