Default DIY porting: Has anyone made or come across a template?

Back before the days of CNC machines, people used to make porting templates to be able to reproduce the same port over and over on several sets of heads. Has anyone ported and polished a set of LSx heads and gone through the trouble to make templates for the rest of us DIY'ers? I've been reading porting threads since Friday night... pics and numbers are nice, but mean nothing to me because I can't copy a port that I've only seen on the web...

Just FYI: I've got old school SBC 416, 089, and even a few (gasp) Ford casting porting templates, but I can't find any LSx port templates anywhere on the net.

To the TOP!!
This would be useful.

I'm working on mine currently. Man, there is a lot of material coming out. If I didn't know better, I'd think I was gonna pick up like 50hp. (because of all the al shavings)

I'll be quite pleased if I can pick up 30 or so though.

I'm aiming to run low 12's off a 2.0 60ft this year with home ported heads and my mods in sig. What d'ya think? I haven't run it since it was basically stock.

Well, right now I only have some stock 5.3 heads to compare to, but I will agree... there's a lot of room for improvement. I got these heads for under $300 shipped brand new, plus the new valves (2.08/1.60) for $75. A friend will do my machine work for me for really cheap... I hope to see around 30 HP/TQ on my LQ9...

We offer CNC porting for customers for $400! At that price it might be worth just paying to have them done & knowing your getting a proven port! Hand porting isn't terribly fun

I'd go w/ TSP for that price. $400 is a very small price to pay for peace of mind.

What kind of Hp gains do you get out of this P/P job on some stock heads?

Hahaha... I know I've been there. My labor = free labor.

Why are you wanting a 2.0 60'?

I'm scared of busting the stupid 10 bolt.
Can't wait to get a 12 bolt or 8.8 (like yours) to thrash!

I decided a while ago not to spend any more money on go fast stuff until I have a new rear end since it's only a matter of time.

I worked around that by doing the home port!
