How's this for a cam install? Here's what I am looking to do. Tell me if this is enough for a good cam install. Thunder Racing T-Rex cam Comp "R" lifter Trick Flow 7.400 single piece pushrods Patriot Gold Dual Spring kit good to .650 lift Crane Cams double row roller timing chain Thunder Racing basic cam install gaskets Does this look good? To much, to little? Opinions? I want to do this right the first time so I don't regret it later! BTW my car has 85,000 miles. Thanks |

I thought I remembered hearing bad things about the Comp R Lifters... maybe not I duno. that stall will be fine with the cam! a 5k stall would be better but still |
Comp R's are only bad if you dont set them with the proper preload. :) |
Actually I am having the stall reset at 4k. What do you mean by having the proper preload? |
Dont you need adjustable rockers to run the comp R's? Or you need to shim the stock rockers to get proper preload. I wouldn't run them without adjustable rockers. Or just get stock replacement lifters. |
I was told by a fellow member that this is the setup him and a buddy are running with their TRex cam. Actually, they weren't running the double row timing chain. I can get the Comp R lifters used under 500 miles for $100 bucks shipped. Are these not worth it? |
Let me know what parts you all would use if these don't look right. IE what type of lifters would you use with this setup if Comp R are not good? |
Comp R's are good. You just need to make sure your preload is correct. Alot of people have had issues with them in the past because they dont set up the preload correctly and these lifters are pretty finicky from what I've read about them. Your list looks good. Like I said I wouldn't run them without adj. rockers. It makes it easier to set them up. I seen somewhere on here where someone said you could get stock replacement lifters brand new for around $125. Which will work fine as well. I'm personally running the Crane stock replacement lifters with the Crane adj. 1.8 accelerated rocker and pushrod kit. |

Well I appreciate it. I think I may go with NEW stock replacements as opposed to used aftermarket. I would like to think I'm getting fresh and unabused. Where is the best place to buy the factory replacements? |

You are not going to be able to put those lifters in unless you plan to pull both cylinder heads during your cam install. |
yeah you gotta pull the heads for lifters. so get some headbolts and gaskets. |

Comp told me at zero lash to tighten the locknut on the Rs. That was over 30k ago. I like them enough that I have another new set soaking in oil right now just waiting for the delivery truck to arrive with some StageIIs for my other vehicles which also has an LSX. |
