Default Please tell me i didnt hurt my crank!

ok, i was installing an underdrive pulley last night and the stock bolt was not long enough for the puller to pull off of, so i decided to put a socket in between the end of the crank and the screw off the pulley puller and pull off of that. well... it worked and the old pulley popped off.... however, it left a nice little ring in the end of the crank. Is this going to hurt me in anyway? I dont really see how it would, but i just want to be sure.

As long as you didn't mess up the threads.....no worries.

I did the same thing to my crank when i had to pull it again for a bad pickup tube oring
But as mentioned as long as the threads are fine in the crank you dont have anything to worry about

alright cool.... I didnt think it would hurt anything. And the threads are perfectly fine... i can thread the entire bolt with one finger. there is just that nice pretty grove now in the end of the crank. Oh well i guess,

Well, now you threw the crankshaft off balance, you're going to have to tear down your engine, remove the crankshaft and take it to a shop to have it rebalanced...

J/K, your crank will be fine. Just be sure not to mess the threads up when seating the pulley on the crank snout.
