Default Best built 346

Lets have a little fun with this. If you could build a stock c.i. LS1 any way you wanted to, what parts would you use???

Why a stock displacement?

Personally I'd probably go aluminium 402ci with a good blower cam (custom grind) forged internals (not sure who's), AFR heads, I quite like the look of the Professional Products 96mm intake/TB setup, QTP LT's all the supporting fuel and ancillary parts running about 9.1:1 CR then add either a Procharger or a turbo.

I would definetly go all forged internals, big cam with AFR 225's, and just because it looks cool I would get the harrop intake system!

Forged internals, ETP or AFRs, blower cam, and either an STS or custom twin turbo with FMIC @ at least 10lbs of boost. Maybe a direct port N20 system for the track.

Fully forged, ETP 225 heads w/custom porting, ARP everything, TSP MS3, 200 shot plumbed into a ported match custom intake, speed density tune. Set-up to possibly be a DD but a track ripper at the same time!!!

There is plenty of people building stock displacement LS1's!!!

The STS setup is junk from what I have seen from the cars around here that have it. I haven't seen any decent numbers from a tuned STS car here. One I don't think even broke 400rwhp and the other is at like 425rwhp. I should be putting down a little more than that with a N/A stock cubed 346.

Here is my setup....Futral Motorsports race prepped stock crank, Eagle 3D H-Beam 6.125 Rods, Mahle Motorsports -4cc Flat Top Pistons, TEA 5.3L Stage 1.5 heads, Futral Custom Grind Cam (236/243 .598/.617 112), Shaner S2 TB, Z06 85mm MAF, TSP 85mm Lid, 42# SVO injectors, and for the occasional use TNT F1

What I would do (and would like to do) different is....FAST 90/90, Direct Port

That would require 59 cc chambers and .040 gasket to bring the SCR to a respectable 11.17 with a DCR of 8.47

On a 112+4 it will peak at 6300 and midrange trq will suffer. Definately more of a top grunt cam and high rpm runs.

I would change the LSA/ICL to 108 LSA/106 ICL with these VEs
236/243-108/106

12>IVO
44>IVC
51.5>EVO
11.5>EVC
110>ECL
23.5>overlap

And a heck of a SD tune.

hmm, if i went all motor id do a ~14:1 setup, some ETP's, solid roller, j2k's and a ~9500 redline with power all over. i think an 8 would be easily had with the right driveline setup.
if i did a nitrous setup its be 12.5:1, solid roller again and a custom 3-4 stage system: the nozzle, then plate, then direct port. id mess with the lengths of line from the noid to the nozzles to tune how hard it hits.
for both rotating assemblies id use callies crank, lunati promod rods, clevite bearings, total seala gapless rings, and je or ross pistons

LoL...where do you live? The lowest STS setup ive seen thus far is 535 RWHP on a basically stock C5.

Darton MID Aluminum Block 3.905" Bore (if that's possible)
Lunati 3.622" Lightweight Forged Crank
Lunati 6.125" Billet Connecting Rods
Wiseco Custom Reversed Dome -8cc Forged Nitrous Pistons
HellFire Ring Package
Callies Billet Steel LS1 Main Caps
ARP L19 Rod Bolts
Ported LS6 Oil Pump
Rollmaster Heat-Treated Double Roller Timing Chain

What you put on top of it is up to you. But that will handle a little bit of nitrous. But for the same price as that, you could have a 427/434/441/447/455 buy going with a MID sleeve of 4.125" 4.155" or 4.200" and a Lunati 4.000" or 4.125" crank.
