ive heard thats about the most you can go. I have my rev limiter set at 6,800 however i dont bring it to that very much. I feel comfortable bringing my car there, however there is always a risk....

You should just put Katech rod bolts on, trq to 50lbs and spin till 7000K if you wish.
Otherwise it is Russian roulette, maybe it will hold or maybe it will not.
You can do that with motor in car, one bolt at a time.
If you decide not to, 6600 is the highest I would take a 2000.

I recently put ARP rod bolts on the 6.0L shortblock I'm putting in my car, I have seen (after I already did it )that you advise not to remove the cap for any reason. Weellll I did. The engine is on an engine stand and i wanted to inspect the bearings since this wasn't my motor and I knew nothing about it. From what you have stated in some posts I'm kinda worried as to whether or not i trashed it. Coul you expand a little bit on why it's not recommended to remove the cap. Thanks, hope a complete tear down isn't in my future!

From what I understand, 2000 cars could have either the new or the old rod bolts. If youve got the new rodbolts, theyre the same that comes in a z06 with a factory 6600 rev limit. I have a 2002 car with the updated rod bolts and I spin to 6800 although not all that often.

Now that it is done, too late, but that doesn't necessarily mean that something went wrong. Just run Non-synth oil and do a 500+ miles break in again, changin oil after that again.

I think oil pressure is the most important thing. A lot of cars eat oil and when it gets down a quart the oil pressure will drop during high rpms. Thats how a lot of people spin bearings. Keep an eye on the oil pressure. Thats the most important thing whether your motor will blow or not.

I had arp rod bolts.. but we removed the caps when we installed. car lasted 5k miles @ 7k rpm before crushing a rod bearing, on the number 7 crank area.
