Default motor combo opinions

new to the ls1 thang. blew up the motor in my 99 c5.

not knowing what's good and what's bad, i came up with a setup that was cheap. i haven't bought anything yet, so let me know if it's junk or not.

scat i forged i beams = $298
mahle pistons, pins, rings = $500 (3.905 bore, 3.622 stroke, 6.125 rod, -4cc dish)
patriot heads (59cc chamber)

i think this would put my comp ratio right around 10.84
i'd guess it'd make @ 400 rwhp
i plan on running a 150 shot on it.

thoughts?

What happened in your old engine?? It will probly be cheaper to get a forged SB from a sponsor. Plus save the headache of dealing with a machine shop, changeing cam bearings ect.. Depending on what happened in the old engine now is a good time for a cam, ported oil pump, double roller timeing set or ls2 chain, lifters/trays, and hardened push rods. What other boltons do you have?? (ls6intake, headers, free flowing exhaust)

on the old motor, a valve spring broke, valve broke, put holes in #7, and wedged in the head. some previous owner had put on mix matched valve springs???? i don't know what cam is in it, it sounds stock, but i don't think it is.
i will most likely go with a new oil pump and timing chain. new push rods are a must. definately need a new clutch. i would prefer to build it myself. i think i can save around a grand.
