Have some 853 heads, what to do My Z is almost finished for me. I love the feel of the car now, but don't know if I want to go through all the work of a head swap. Question is, Should I go ahead and port and polish these heads and put them on my Z or finish up the suspension parts and call it a day. 2002 Z28 M6 stock 241 heads with 918 springs TR230 cam and tuned bolt ons |
Looks like you have all the other supporting mods. Go For It. But then again if you like the way your car feels now leave it alone. IMO i would go for it. |
I'd put em on! You wanna go faster don't ya? If not, i'd give ya $100 for them. haha |

You would be better off to port the 241 heads. |
Get aftermarket heads. I must say that my TR230 and my 5.3 stage 2 heads kick ass! Just note that you gotta have headers to go with a H/C setup. |

ok, another decision to make... I have just aquired a set of 6.0 lt heads, would these be better to use? |
They flow better out of the box, but you will lose alot of compression with the 6.0 heads and you can only mill them so far. There is nothing wrong with porting the 853 castings at all. Some porters even prefer them over other castings. Heck I'm running some old ABS heads (853's) and putting down 461/425 on a reletivly small cam. I say go for the 853's or send in the 6.0's to have the chambers welded up to bring your compression back up. This is what Patriot calls LS6 style heads :). Dan |
