Why isn't the Torquer v2 hitting 400+ RWTQ

I am going to install mine soon with all the supporting mods, H/C, TB, ported Oil pump, etc. and am looking at all the dyno graphs and noticed that most are peaking at ~370 RWTQ, why isn't this cam making more torque? what's it going to take to get the torquer to peak over 400?

More compression,it doesn't seem to make over 400 rwtq very often. Its a good cam but I don't see why they call it the "torquer".I was thinking about running this cam with the dart 205's I think that would be a good combo and the smaller chamber darts would really help it by raising the compression.

So what's the ideal compression to make this cam put out ~400RWTQ peak?
Would you also need a small chamber head or would the TSP LS6 head help to optimize the output?

Hey larry, 400 rwtq. might be kinda tough, but you should come really close if you set up the compression correct. If you mill the heads to 61 cc and run a .040 gasket that will get you 8.56 DCR which is right where you want it to be for 91 octane.

Hope that helps, and let me know when ever you need the flycutter, or need help determing your PtV.

isn't there a white camaro on here running low to mid 10's N/A with the torquer

dyno numbers aren't always everything

11.5 SCR and 8.5+DCR is ideal

i hit 385 rwtq cam only, so with heads and intake i should be around 400rwtq

Tri5Nerd Jun 11, 2006 07:18 PM

What is your peak torque?
I'll be at 11.0:1 SCR and 8.53 DCR with my setup.:
I think 11.5 is too much for 91 octane gas.

no real tune yet so i dunno, also 11.5 is fine for 93octane

Larry your DCR is spot on that truck should move once you get it all together.

I have a 98 camaro Z28 M6 just installed the torquer cam. Car still has the stock 98 heads 853 castings in it. I have Pacesetter long tube Headers and X-pipe. Put down 410 HP and 400 TQ. Am happy with it. Putting some Heads on it soon. :D
