Are 918's good enough for this cam?? I have a Comp cam 232/236 581/595 on a 112 XE-r lobes. I already have comp 918 springs. Are the 918 ok to run with this cam? Also I don't know anything about shimming the springs. The sponser I got the cam and springs from said that the 918's would do great with this cam unshimmed. Do you think that this is ok? |
I would say yes |
I know that the 918's are good enough for at least a 600 lift. A lot of people say that they have used them with cams well over the 600 mark. I just don't know anything about shimming or setting the springs. |
tsp told me 918s work fine with the MS3 cam...they were originally rated to .625 lift i believe...im going with them on my Torquer v.2 cam with .595/.598 lift. |
How do you get the proper install height. I am under the impression that the 918's are a stock replacement........meaning that I would not have to do anything except pop the old springs off replace the valve seal and put the 918's on. No shimming or anything. |
I run them on my 244/248 .598/.598 115 |
If your ok then i will be good to go, thanks |
i run them with my G5X2. yea you should be good. |
I run the G5X2 with Comp921s, but why would you not consider running those instead...just piece of mind I'm trying to recommend...your decision.... |

For extra insurance I would go with Comp Cams 921. Thats what I have with my cam and worth piece of mind. |

I know that getting dual springs would be the optimal thing to do, however, I am currently out of budgeted money to spend on the car right now.(College Student)........I am getting the cam mainly for the sound of it and a little extra seat of the pants feeling. I am setting the rev limiter at 6400 and it should be driven calmly. Cops suck in college towns, but they can't do anything just for sounding fast. |
To the OP: I have used 918 with great success on cams more wild than that. I also prep all of my springs before use though. |

918s do have some cushion above the .600 mark limit-wise. |
918's here on an MS3 Cam shifting at 6800 no problems so far....knock on wood but yeah I have like 7K on the setup now. |
