What's the prognosis? DR.

I put a superchager on a 99 SS camero.
After three runs of tuning it started blowing white / blue smoke.
Vac went from 20 to 15, idle is rough.
So what do you think it is?

Billy177 Aug 21, 2006 12:17 PM

head gasket but that is just a wild guess without knowing more on it

STKN1STGEAR Aug 21, 2006 12:33 PM

I was thinking maybe it was a piston.
If I take off the oil filler cap I feel a small puff.
What else do you need to know?

STKN1STGEAR Aug 21, 2006 01:33 PM

Anyone else have any Idear what the problem is?

Billy177 Aug 21, 2006 01:40 PM

is it just a slightly roughf idle or is it a dead miss. pull the plugs and see what is going on

slow67 Aug 21, 2006 01:55 PM

Could be a combination. White usually is water/coolant, and blue is usually oil related.

it is slightly rough.
The car still has a lot of power.
It also pops through the intake once and while.

How far off was the tune during the three runs? What were WB O2, spark, and knock at?

I agree with pulling the plugs and doing a leak down to narrow your search.

I agree with pulling the plugs and doing a leak down to narrow your search.

the first run I get some ping. knock was at 7.9 not sure how to answer the WBO2 question.
so I opened the high and low octane table and lowered all cell values by 5. then did the second run (no ping)
then I added 2 back into the High / low tables.
then did third run (very little ping)

I'll pull the plugs and see what they look like

STKN1STGEAR Aug 21, 2006 04:57 PM

Anything else to look at?

Billy177 Aug 21, 2006 05:27 PM

I have no real expierence with these type of superchargers but is there a chance that a seal could go bad in them allowing engine oil into the intake via the supercharger. the popping through the intake sounds like a different problem possibly in the tune

Well that is possible i'll check that.
I did mess with the timing.

CrazyChris Aug 22, 2006 01:19 AM

So how much timing are you running at peak tq and hp? Do you know what your AF ratio is at??

If I am reading this software correctly? The timming is about 35 deg.
AFR = 14.63

Is that at WOT? Sounds more like part throttle/closed loop.

the timming veries from about 10 - 35 deg
This is while using EFILive and making scan runs.
it is in SD with the MAF disconnected.
also from idle to WOT
