6.0 car won't start, had it for 2 weeks

I hate that my first post on here is something like this, but to be honest, I really dont know anything about motors, and I want to learn. I dont have a lot of money to mod my camaro now, thats why I bought one that I thought was pretty modded already.
I have a 99 Z28 with a 6.0 in it, stock heads, ported tb, z06 cam, ls6 intake, and some suspension mods. I just had the tranny rebuilt and drove it on a 350 mile trip no probs. Well I drove it about 500 yards from my apartment last night and it just died. Before it died the low water light came on, the low oil light came on, and the SES light came on. I tried to start it up again and it would turn over great, just not start. I know its either the motor aint getting fuel or aint getting fire, but what do you guys think it is? Thanks so much for helping in advance.

Check to make sure your ground wires on the back of the heads are still tight to the head. Do you hear the fuel pump turn on for 2 seconds when you put the key in the "on" position? These are the first two places I would check into.

those light will automatically come on when the car dies so dont worry about those lights.. like when you 1st turn on your car all those lights should come on then go off. you might have threw a belt check on your alternator and make sure that the belt is still on there.. and check and make sure all the belts are there. do this 1st its easy and cheap. and since your just learning bout engines dont be afraid to ask questions bc this place is full of knowledge but im sure you know where the alternator is.. i can get some pics of an engine and draw and arrow pointing at it..

Post where you're located too. Someone should be located near you that might be able to help you out too. As large as this group is, odds are in your favor.

I know it is too late for this, but when you buy a modded car you are walking into a dark hallway as far as problems go. I can't believe that I will be the first to ask this, but....Was the car tuned prior to your ownership?

LS1NewBe370 Sep 13, 2006 02:24 AM

supposively

the car was supposively pcm tuned a while back when the 370 was swapped in. I live in Fayetteville, AR btw if anyone is close?

orangeapeel Sep 13, 2006 02:51 AM

You never know until you have had it tuned. That is back to the whole "dark hallway" analogy that i made earlier. Kinds sucks when you have to guess what is going on and have nothing recent to base it off of. Good luck man.
