I bought one a plastic block and bolted aluminum heads on it. I threw in some wooden pushrods and elastic connecting rods for variable stroke. I cut out the pistons from some dinner plates I had laying around. It ran pretty good.

Have not used this method, but I have been told you only need to flatten them and they will slide right in.

I have an old lathe and i've been considering grinding a custom cam with some old pine in my backyard. Would anyone be interested in a custom camshaft? Maple is $100 extra. Call if you want redwood.

I put my SLP(Street legal Plywood) headers on yesterday, they started smoking instantly. I think i'm going to return these!

This is too damn funny, but seriously, what is the correct size for a metal rod to hold the lifters up? 5/16th? and length?

If you have the ***** to do it. Spin the cam over hard and sling the lifters up. Pull out cam and insert new one right then.

I have done it twice. Never dropped one. I have used magnets once and dowels about 20 times. Magnets are more scary than nothing! the freaking tip can come off.

So true! Knowing how my luck goes something like that would most likely happen. Thanks for the help, hopefully my cam from Patriot will be here this week. I ordered it last Thursday, aren't his cams off the shelf meaning they are ready to be shipped? I've got a 4 day weekend so I want to get this done, I went Saturday to Harbor Freight tools and bought a 3 armed puller and a new 3/8 drive torque wrench. This cam swap is a little more expensive than I thought, oh well, it's worth it.

No problem man. Glad I can show you 5 different ways to do something!

Off the shelf = Not a custom grind
GI Joe = Not custom action figure
Also:
GI Joe = Real American Hero

that is the best analogy I could think of... Im retarded.
