What's the difference in valve spring brands

Are valve springs like most other things where there are essentially two main brands and everyone else private labels their stuff?

and what are you guys with higher lift using i.e. 630-720

thanks in advance

Basically, yeah. I have seen other questions about this b4,only a handful of steel plants/manufactures in the U.S. The quality of the steel may vary though. Feel free to chime in guys

There are 3 major spring mfg that do both OEM and aftermarket stuff then there are a handfull of smaller companies that do springs. The guys at PAC can probably tell you more but I know for a long time the higher quality wire for springs came out of Kobi Japan.

so which three manuf. were those? PAC and who else?

thanks

This question came up a while back on the PSI springs that Dart uses, the answer from Dart was PSI and Associated make most of the springs, Associated makes the Comps if I remember correctly, but I may not have it right either. I agree with Chris though, the good steel for springs is coming out of Japan. I spoke with Mark Cambell at Crane about their 833 springs a while back and he told me the same thing, the super clean high quality steel wire is coming from Japan.
