Katech's K. spec cam ?

Anyone have a video clip of how it sounds ???
I would like to hear it in an LS1 with a Y pipe since thats what I have.
Looks like a very nice cam, 229 / 229 @ .050, .576 / .576 lift, 116 LSA
And it might be a little stealth

slimcracka Oct 13, 2006 07:32 PM

im intrested too.. a lil stealth is always good

Id be interested in E.T's with bolt on's and p/p 243 head on a stock weight f-body.

SS DNA Oct 13, 2006 11:59 PM

I was thinking of a good ported LS6 head to go with it.

We usually run these in 408s or 427s. Going to have to check PtoV on a stock piston 346. It idles pretty smooth with a noticeable lope on larger engines.

Well -3* overlap @ .050 (slight lope)
No PTV issues on stock motor

I am looking at this cam for a 427 shortblock, to replace my aging and much experimented on factory shortblock....

Given the mild lift numbers I am hoping it does NOT cause a ton of valve-train noise...

:lurk:

Never had any valvetrain noise complaints.

Looking at the specs, what part of the cam even slightly indicates that there could be PTV clearance issues? Cams with more lift, more duration, and closer LSA fit just fine. Am I missing something about the specs?

Freind of mine might be getting the Stage II kit for his stock longblock LS6. He does not want anything crazy, but I think this is a nice cam for a DD no? The LSA and duration look like they should be low speed and emmisions freindly.

I looked on the KATECH website and the STG1 looks a bit mild for what he wants (like 410+WHP with complete exhaust and intake work). He does not mind a bit of a lope at all. He got the loudest damn cat-back he could anyway LOL.

Hey KATECH, do you guys recomend any shops in Phoenix for installs?

He's gonna hit 410rwhp without heads, with a MILD cam? Please update us on that one.

Arizona Power and Sound is one of our dealers and they are in Tempe.
480-966-1168

Might want to try them next week. Most of the guys there are at SEMA.

Its a brand new LS6. I dont see why LTs/ORY/cat-back and intake work with a 224/224 or better cam with 3.73s on an M6 cant hit 410. Its about 350 to start. Full exsaust, ported TB, Lid,etc should be in the 370-380 range AFAIK. Mild cam should be a nice way to utilize the LS6 heads for another 20 or 30. There's always pulleys and other little tricks.

Thats the only shop I've seen recomended too. I'll have him give them a ring. Do you think 410 is a bit ambitious with the STG II cam package on a stock LS6 with exhaust and intake work and not much else?

Sorry I don't think I saw you mention that it's an LS6. Should be close.

Depends on whose chassis dyno you're on ;)

Not in Arizona :) Most 224 cams here in AZ put down 370-375ish rwhp. So probably real close to 400rwhp. Make sure Nic tunes it, hes the MAN. :thumb:

Oh wow, I love these specs, I know stuffing it in a stock cubed stock head LS1 it wouldn't be the best.. but I'm kinda wondering what it would be like.

*talks self out of it*
