5.3 heads have a chamber vol of 61.15cc's

5.7 heads have a chamber vol of 66.67cc's...........Thus goinng w/ the 5.3 heads will have a slightly higher compression ratio due to the decreased chamber VOL. (right?)

If you were spraying, I'd go w/ a good set of P+P's LS6 heads.

LS6 heads are 64.45cc chamber. Would be more friendly for camming and spraying. Spraying is a lot like forced induction. You will be adding more air volume. If you add more vol on a higher compression engine, you would run a higher risk of detonation or possibly hurting the bottom end prematurly.

For a nitrous cam... IMO, I'd go w/ a 224/232 .581 .595 114 ... that's just me tho...Have you picked out your cam yet?

Again all this was just me... so feel free to tell me to fk off if you want..

All that sounds about right.

Also with the 5.7's....you can fit a bigger cam in there without running in to PTV clearance problems.....without flycutting.

No need to go ridiculous with the cam though...I mean you definitely can But a medium size traditional split like already mentioned should be a nice setup!

If this is a track only car, I'd opt for the larger combustions chambers. If it's a street/strip car, I'd try to maximize power OFF the bottle, then compensate on the juice with a timing retard box if detonation becomes an issue. May not make quite as much hp while spraying, (difference is prolly nil) but I think the trade off would be a street car with better NA hp/tq with the smaller chambers, higher CR etc... Besides, you can always jet up....

but you can also get 5.3 heads all day long on ebay for under or a little over $100. And for someone on a budget and cant spend thousands for heads (i know i cant), its a easy/cheap way to bolt on some hp.
