Default Cost to port/polish/coat stock 2000 and up manifolds?

I’m getting a hold of an extra set of 2000 manifolds for free, and I was wondering if this would be worth doing. I’ve tossed the idea around before, because I don’t want longtubes and the price of JBAs is ridiculous.

So has anyone done this, or looked into it? I figure if I could do the whole thing for $300 or less, I’d try it out.

Perhaps you should look into extrude honing them?

Unless it has come down in the past year, extrude honing is expensive.

For $300 you could probably pick up some use shorties or Macs. $300 spent on porting stock exhaust manifolds may not be the best HP/$ return. I'd compare it against your options too.

www.ls1speed.com

I was in thier showroom the other day and they had some show quality manifolds and maf ends, looked awesome.

Edit: I am dumb and just realized you meant porting out the insides...I originally thought you wanted to shine them up.

I think buying a set of macs with the offroad pipe and doing the install yourself would be a much better $/hp investment.

Whats your ET goal? I got down to 12.18 with the complete stock exhaust and before I got a little carried away with the weight reduction (probably at a bloated 3500lbs ) Of course I have a more aggressive converter but still I think those exhaust manifolds are decent. If money's an issue you can't beat the Mac's

i agree with the price of the macs, not worth jackin with the stockers, when u have them off the car next to a set of headers, its no wonder that they flow as much more as they do

If you plan on doing other mods (you know you will eventually) they will become the bottle neck in your system. MACs are the best bang for the buck out there and the install is a breeze.

I know you guys are right about MACs, but I was just looking for some other alternatives besides what’s on the market. I’m honestly not planning on breaking into the 11s until I have a better transmission, so I was just looking for a little more power cheap. The next big mod will be a Yank Sportsman. I know I could buy used MACs cheap, but it’s just that I’ve got the extra set of manifolds for free, and I’m trying to make some use of them. Maybe scrap iron?

PSJ...who would you recommend for extrude honing? I would still like to look into this. Got any websites or local Chicago shops? Thanks...
