Default Balance Rotating Assembly

I am in the process of building my LS1. The internals are stock rods and crank with mahle forged pistons. The machine shop is claiming the forged pistons are lighter than the stock ones and that I need to have to whole assembly balanced. Is this really necessary?

I'm kind of a newbie, but I am about to do my own build and will be getting it all balanced. I think it's absolutely necessary. The last freaking thing in the world you want is a vibration in your rotating assembly, and if you change anything about it, I'd get it balanced.

Ya it seems to make sense it would need balancing I agree. However, I never hear of people doing it and if the pistons are already within a gram or so of each other it might be alright.
