How to pull the valve covers?? Please HELP!

I seriously over-revved it 17,000 miles ago! Fresh engine had only 3,000 on it at the time. Went from 4th to 3rd WOT and fully disengaged clutch, didn't see tach but rear end stepped way out. :eek2: Was going uphill around bend at the time. Barely got the clutch back in without losing it and taking out a guard rail. Blew out collector gasket on driver's side shortly thereafter.
Then drove the car 3,500 miles round trip to florida. Sewing machine sound was more obvious on trip and has become increasingly so every since. Engine at this time does not have an obvious miss but has a cam and seems to be down on power. :barf: I suspect that the knock sensors are picking up the exhaust leak or worse, bent pushrods and setting the timing back.
I have meant to take the car back to SRP and have them check it out but they arent close to me.
I can pull the valve covers and check the pushrods myself if you all will be so nice as to tell me how to do it.
Thank You in advance! :bang:

3500 miles with exhaust leak? Man you must hate your car. :bang:
Fix the darn leak first and go from there.

pullin the valve covers is pretty self explanitory, might take you a little more time if you have a 98 because eeach coil has to come off individually.

3500 miles.. :eek2: ...Your car is not feeling the love with that kind of teatment.. :eyes: ..nothing to pulling the valve covers..just remove your coil pacs and unbolt the valve covers. Removing the push rods is pretty self explanitory once your valve covers are off..find something that is absolutly flat like a piece of glass and roll them on it and you be able to see if which ones are bent.

As someone said, removing the valve covers is pretty self explanatory, 4 bolts a ten mm deep socket will take care of to remove the coil packs, and then 4- 8mm bolts to actually take off the valve covers themselves. Don't be worried you can't mess it up.

The 98 valve covers can be taken off without removing the coils.
