Things You Look For in a 'Street/Strip' Cam
I'm not so young anymore so I tend to be fairly conservative on 'Street/Strip' cams.
Here are some of the things I look for in choosing a street strip cam:
1) TQ > or = displacement by 2,500 rpm
2) Peak hp approx. = peak TQ
3) Toque peak around 4,500 rpm
4) Hp peak around 6,000 rpm and a fairly broad hp plateau between 5,500 to 6,500 rpm.
If you use these, reliability, manifold vacuum at idle, and driveability will take care of themselves IMO.
What do you look for in a 'Street/Strip' cam?

All I really care about is idle quality, and what I call the "smell" factor. If the car can idle smooth at 950rpm and doesn't smell too bad, its street able. Of course it has to make good power in whatever my intended rpm range is as well. <img src="images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">
If I'm running a 3800rpm stall, I don't pay much attention to power under say 3500rpm.

My 218/218 114 cam was selected using criteria of:
I agree with Terry that low end torque at 2500 was not a real consideration given my high stall. That said my TR 224 112 cam does seem a little perkier at part throttle in that range.
