Pictures of MACS and FLPS, with measurements
Just got finished taking my macs off my SS, putting FLPs on now. Took a shot of them side by side, for those that always wondered why macs are midlengths and flps are longtubes.
Also note, the collector diameter was ported a bit on the macs..I think stock was 2.25" or so, and I enlarged it out to the 2.45" you see in the picture with a grinder.

Jon, cool picture comparison. You might change the font though, its hard to see the period between the numbers.
Also, how about including the primary lengths on both brand headers, on both sides? Maybe the length of the shortest and longest primary tube on each individual header side? That would be cool!

Good question!! My MAC's have been on the car for almost 2 years, and they sure don't look like that. Mine look the same as the day they were put on. No Jet-Hot on mine either, just the standard MAC coating. I guess living in Phoenix has something to do with it.

Re: Pictures of MACS and FLPS, with measurements
Ack..where to start.
Wot247, yes, I'm selling them..to a local person only.
Nineball, font is changed. I'll measure the tubes in a bit..not sure how accurate it'll be though.
99 Black Bird T/A, I'll take a pic of the FLP primaries if you want, but there isnt really anything to see..the welds are really not even visible...just looks like a pipe. VERY nice...much like my ported macs.
bigSS,Tim98Z28 , those macs have been on my car for maybe 16 months. Car has been driven in rain maybe 6-7 times in that time. I personally dont care what they look like....they are friggin exhaust pipes!!
JS, I have no idea about your questions. Maybe you should dyno the car with an open ypipe as it is, then put some 12" pipes on the ends of your collectors and dyno that. The difference between your dynos will probably be the most you could possibly gain from going full on with a custom super sized X/Y/H pipe, etc.....I think you might find its not worth the effort.

Re: Pictures of MACS and FLPS, with measurements
Z28SS21, if you are in austin, i might be interested...im gonna offer them to the local fbody club first though.
OK. Primary lengths, very roughly measured with a semi-flexible tape measure.
FLP Drivers side:
Shortest - 19"
Longest - 27"
FLP Passenger side:
Shortest - 18"
Longest - 32"
MAC Drivers side:
Shortest - 14"
Longest - 20.5"
Mac Passenger side:
Shortest - 12.5"
Longest - 22"
Also, FWIW, the other measurements were taken with a digital caliper.

That is great info JMX
I never ported my primaries or my collectors
Julio told me the same thing about the macs..
I intend to cut the ball flange off and have my buddy weld a slightly longer collector off the end of the header. Then I'll re-port the primaries like u did...
I be with a 3in Y-pipe and my cutout these will flow almost as well as a long tube for ALOT less $$$$...
Do u think a 2.5in X-pipe would be better with 2 cutouts running back to a set of race magnums and tundowns?
I was thinking about trying a X w/DUEL cutouts?

Good post. When you port the Mac's, how "deep" into the tubes do you port? Hope that makes sense. And what kind of hp increase do you estimate from just porting? My Mac's are on the ups truck right now, and I believe I will port mine, as well. And, send them to jet hot coatings

2000Z28,11 Bravo, thanks!
11Bravo, you only need to port the fat welds..the rest of the pipe is the full 1.6'ish diameter...just the welds choke it down a bit. You'll see what I mean when you get em.
Z28SS21, I'm checking to make sure my friend doesnt want them first (he mentioned he might want them a few months ago)...if he passes, I'll email you a price.

No, that's what they look like without Jet-Hot coating. This is what they look like with Jet-Hot coating.
