Default How much gain from LS6 Intake, and big nitrous cam?

Hey guys I am throwing a new setup on the car this week for this coming weekends great weather.

I am currenty running a 216/224 114 comp cam from A.R.E with the stock LS1 intake manifold. The car has run 11.65@115 with this setup, and a 10.70@125 on the bottle. In decent weather.

This week I am adding a 222/230 114 comp cam with about the same lift as the older smaller cam. And I am also adding the LS6 intake. Now I am not expecting huge gaines on the motor since this is a nitrous cam for next years 200 hp two stage setup. But I am going to spray it this weekend with my 150 shot and see how it goes.

Do you think 117 mph is possible with this cam and intake, in my 3350 race weight car?

Give me some info!

I'm not sure, but if I had to guess I'd say you might pick up 1mph on motor, nothing on juice.

With stock heads, I suspect you may go SLOWER with the new cam unless you can turn it quite a bit tighter. Your current cam will most likely make more average hp and torque.

If you had Stage II ARE heads, that would be a different story.

who knows for sure....if i had to make a guess you would pick up a LITTLE from the cam change maybe nothing and pick up some from the intake on motor maybe a MPH if your lucky.....on the juice i couldnt say you may see an increase or you may not....

Wow! Interesting info,

Thanks for the feed back. I am surprised that you guys dont think that it will pick up on the bottle. I would think that it would, but then again I dont know a ton about cams. I hope to have some heads on the car in the future so even if it remains the same on the bottle I will probably hang on to it until I do the heads.

Thanks guys!

Andy,

A lot of people slow down on the juice with bigger cams that have lots of overlap. That overlap can often bleed off cylinder pressure from the nitrous, negating the gains.

Ideal nitrous cams are not great candidates for N/A, but most of us are running shots big enough to justify these specialized cams. With nitrous, you'll make peak hp pretty much as soon as you hit the button, so big intake duration numbers are not as important as generous exhaust duration and proper closing points of intake and exhaust.
