What valve spings for g5x4 cam?
Im thinking of swaping the old tr224 for a g5x4. Im running crane dual springs rated to .650 lift. Will that be enough of a spring? If so would i need to replaced them often or at all. How valve train friendly is this cam?

Thimble, how much are the 921s? Were you told that they would need to replaced after a certain amount of miles? Hows your drivability with the x4?Thanks

I had originally ordered them, but was in a hurry and TR didn't have them in stock, so I went with the $289 PRC kit instead (of which I've not heard anything bad about).
Either should be good for 25k+ miles with proper use depending on how hard you beat it. By proper use, I mean...let the car (and springs) warm up before getting on it. Your Crane duals should fine to use with this cam. The X4 is an XE-R lobed cam with just a little over .600 lift. (less than .620) It's a little harder on springs than your TR224 is, but your current springs should be ok.
Drivability with the X4 is quite good...although my install was just completed a few days ago, I'm currently on my way cross country, and put 750 miles on it today alone.. It's a big cam, and it has it's bad manners...but mine hasn't even been tuned yet, so that's saying something. The car is running rich, it surges and bucks below 1500rpm, and it has stalled a couple times when coming to a stop. All tuning issues that will soon be taken care of, but other than that, I love it and it gets around on the streets just fine. I have mine idling at 900rpm, and the lope is wicked.
With a good tune, no doubt the cam is 100% streetable.

mine idles at 900-950rpm. I don't have any surging below 1500 rpms. with stock heads, stock MAF, fast 90/90, and full exhaust I am maxing out the stock injectors.

That makes a world of difference no doubt.

Yes it does. I can't wait to do some simple upgrades this winter to squeeze a couple more ponies out of her.
