head/cam into the 10's??? what do you guys think? i know some of you houston guys are there. what's it take? i wouldn't mind being 10.90's on heads/cam and then i'll spray my way a little lower. thanks for any advice? this is an automatic car. i know there's more needed, but this is what i was thinking for a beginning... heads/cam custom programming SLP LT's with dual cutouts on the y-pipe SLP Loudmouth 3.73's ST3800 ? Re: head/cam into the 10's??? i'm just worried about that large of convertor with nitrous to begin with. the FLP's with stock cats sound like a good idea too. maybe have to sell the loudmouth and go with a Hooker cat back if that'll tone things down a bit. trying to stay with a hydraulic cam though. thanks for advice!! Re: head/cam into the 10's??? with the TH350 you could easily get a ~3500 stall built for like $450. no more yank prices <img src="gr_tounge.gif" border="0"> that combo should work. i still do a solid if i were you. just to make sure you can get 10's on a nitrous safe setup. i mean with nitrous i mind mickey only went 10.44 with his solid roller moster. if it were gonna be an all out na motor he probably woulda hit nines on motor. Re: head/cam into the 10's??? Don't even think about running a N20 shot on car like that. If you are looking for 10's on Stock bottom end, you are gonna need a TP4400 or the like. Tp4400's and nitrous don't mix too good on that kinda combo <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> I ran GTP Stage II heads, AMS cam, mac shorty headers, TP4400, stock tranny....3475 weight! Re: head/cam into the 10's??? hey thanks chris. if i went with that converter, the tp4400 or such, i wouldn't spray it. there was already a post about mixing those two <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> the other day. anyways, i'd be happy with 11.1-11.3's with a St3500 or 3800. then i'd have a little more room to spray to get down into mid-high 10's. although i am wondering if i shouold just ditch the spray idea and go for mid-high 10's n/a. thanks again. Re: head/cam into the 10's??? re: solid roller conversion....call Thunder Racing. they will soon be selling 'packages' round figures: T&D rockers- 850 lifters- 300 SAM valve cover spacers- 250 You'd have to buy spings and pushrods anyway so its hard to throw those in the cost of a solid roller persay. YOu will need 5.3L plug wires unless you want to relocate the packs. the cam itself should cost more, nor should the springs if you were thinking about getting double springs anyway. same with the bigger pushrods. a solid roller is a waste in some instances with a stock bottom end. but if you want 10's with a 3800 stall or the PYE3600 that i mentioned. Re: head/cam into the 10's??? I tend to take an ass backwards approach to this. Set up your suspension first, get the car to launch hard, then worry about the power. With a 12 bolt & slicks, carpet in, I figure a 11.5, and with a head & cam I'm thinking at least high 10's. Throw a 200 shot on there & 9's are right around the corner. Set up the suspension, and get the weight to a point that you can live with & then work from there. |

We do get good barometer on occasion. -I have not seen or heard of local 346ci car doing better than 11.5, so I think you have your work cut out for you. -Roy has run 11.88 with nitto's and bolton's, so I can see a dialed in car running 11.4's maybe a wee bit better but I think that you will need to remove 300 lbs from the car. Your car stock is like 3400 + you. -I think those 28" slicks you have are too tall unless you plan to run more gear. I cut a 1.53 in my car and went thrut the traps at like 6200-6300. |
Re: head/cam into the 10's??? If chris marsh can run a 10.94 with no major weight reduction; what makes you think it is necessary to remove weight to run a mid 10? I mean with a lil better tuning, and a few minor tweaks, and possibly light weight reduction; the car would easily gone mid 10's.
