Default My head/intake swap (pics) !NO 56K!!

before i began this i had the usual bolt ons & a torquer 2 cam which made 395rwhp.. now im in the process of installing some very very clean (bead blasted) 243 heads, FAST 90/90 and replacement lifters. im on day 2 right now and so far so good other then me cracking that AC hardline that goes into the condesor but u dont REALLY need AC in seattle
heres some pics....

this is my work space

whats up with the wear on these valves???

here she is currently hibernating in my garage

heres one of my 918 springs that came off the driver side head.. looks pretty fucked up?? i wonder how long ive been driving it like that? do you guys suggest i get a new spring or do you think it will be fine?

heres my disassembled 243 heads that came off a 02/03(?) z06

FAST 90

PTM 90mm TB

this is what the 243 heads looked like before they got bead blasted

as of right now ive got the lifters soaking in oil for the night and i was wondering if anyone knew the torque specs on retorquing the lifter trays back on the motor?
and about that spring what the hell is up with that?? thats kinda scary seeing how i probably have been driving it like that for a while.. the other end of that head looks perfectly normal?? what should i do?

TIP: the 2 15mm ground bolts on the driver side head can be easily reached by just totally taking off the head then moving it out away from the back of the firewall so you can reach them... just what i did
i was kinda upset to see my engine so FUKN dirty on the valley cover and what not? im going to clean it up real nice.what could cause the intake to take up so much **** ?..
another Q does the wear on those valves look normal? whats up with that?

That spring needs to be replaced, maybe all of them to be safe. As for the torque on the lifter trays, you need to verify the number but from memory I "think" it is 106 in-lbs. Verify this number prior to using it though.

Good luck with the mods

another question: does anyone know where i can get one of those little blue grommets that are between the sensors that connect to the injectors? and will engine degreaser work for cleaning up everything?

We used engine degreaser for most of everything, cleaning the valley tray, cleaning of the old heads, and so on so it works good. You can get the blue rubber grommets at a gm dealer.

If you want to shoot me an AIM on AOL I can let you know tonight as I have the factory service manuals. I'm about to do my H/C swap as well. I guess when you broke the hardline you were bending/moving it, trying to keep your refridgerant in the system? I'm just going to disconnect my stuff and re-fill it later as it's not very expensive and is probably cheaper then a refill and a hardline

Those valves looked like they were hot. As long as the seats are ok they should be fine. I'd rather them be white and clean then black and sooty.

Hope you washed those heads in acid to get the blasting media that's embedded into the surface (happens to Al after beadblasting) out so it doesn't wind up in your motor.

why are you not porting those heads? bigger valves? Better now than later while you have them off.
