Aftermarket TB & MAF with Ed Wright tuning?
I want to get the most HP out of my H/C. I have Ed Wright tuning. Will I be able to go with better flowing MAF and ported Throttle Body?
When I got the initial programming done with the cam only, Ed advised me to go back to the stock MAF. So, that's what's on the car now.

I'm running a ported maf and TB...I also have a maf translator...I'm having zero problems running this set up.
I talked to Ed about this..he recommended using stock maf's and TB's, but like I said, I'm having no problems.

A ported MAF will prolly make the car run lean with Ed's tuning because he sets the AF ratio and timing to the stock MAF. If your wanting to run the ported MAF (i dont think you will gain anything with it) i would advise you to Auto tap it and see what is going on,prolly end up needing a MAFT to make it work. I have a descreened MAF with my tuning and my numbers are DEAD ON.

Thanks guys. I'm going to dyno first with the f-body club here and see where I'm at now.
Then if it looks like I'll gain anything, I'll consider the SLP MAF. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" />

if you have problems with it after you change the MAF, don't go cry to Ed about it. He'll likely not be inclined to help you for free.
I've seen him rail guys who have him do their PCM and DON't tell him they've changed the MAF, or then change it later and bitch coz their running too lean. he'll set your ltrms to 0...

02'Hawk,
I asked Ed about the Ltrims being set at zero..he said that he wouldn't do it on mine...Guess people that plan on running ported mafs & tb's need to tell him about it. The funny thing is, when i got my pcm back..I didn't change anything on my maf-t and it was dead on. I used the af-t to richen things up before tunning and didn't have to change a thing..just atap and drive.

Re: Aftermarket TB & MAF with Ed Wright tuning?
02 Hawk,
If I were to go with a different MAF I would just pay Ed the $150 to re-program again. Not sure if I'll go that route though, cause after putting the PCM in Friday night, it's running perfectly. I had him lower my idle in Park to 900 and in drive to 800. I wanted to feel the cam a little.
Now we'll see where it's at on the dyno.
Thanks for all the replies. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

Yeah, if you want a bigger MAF then go to the Z06/6.0l unit; Ed can flash in the appropriate GM calibrated tables.
Porting the throttle body is a good thing, I wouldn't worry about that.
You need to be honest with Ed about your modifications, especially something like the maf which is a basic engine metering sensor.

Chris is absolutely correct. Don't try to sneak a MAF in on Ed... <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">
