FLP's are in... whats that ticking?!?! Ok guys, i think the system actually vibrating against SOMETHING. I already did the whole AIR check valve mod, and ended up completely blocking them off to make sure it wasnt the check valves fluttering. The sound is better now, however it is quite distinct when it goes into overdrive and if give it gas. Ticking that increases with rpm. I cant figure it out now. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe i am just not used the the alum block and header combo amplifying the engine noise? Just have never heard it before, and its kinda annoying! Also my whole exhaust system seems to be rattling, as i can hear the corsa muffler vibrating VERY loud sometimes in the rear. Anyone ever have this problem? Im thinking of tack welding part of the exhaust to the chassis to eliminate this. Blah i didnt want a rattlebox! Sean |
Re: FLP's are in... whats that ticking?!?! What kind of header gaskets did you use? If I were you I would invest in some GM stock header gaskets and replace the ones you have now. I honestly cant say there are any better gaskets than GM gaskets, they are thin metal that crushes for a leak-proof seal. Hope this helps, if you need any other help you can email me. Re: FLP's are in... whats that ticking?!?! Problem is you spent $1200 for headers. |
Re: FLP's are in... whats that ticking?!?! man I have done everything you have done and I get the famous tick tick..... it think it just valve train noise to be honest.... chevrolet gonz |
Re: FLP's are in... whats that ticking?!?! It's just added valvetrain noise. This is something you're going to get with any headers (maybe not shorties). That's just something you have to accept if you want to get a set of headers. |
Re: FLP's are in... whats that ticking?!?! Ok thats what i thought.. just valvetrain noise. BTW yes i am using stock metal GM gaskets. Sean |

[quote]Originally posted by mcflyz28: Problem is you spent $1200 for headers.

i dont see a problem at all....i spent 1000 for my FLP's used and it was worth every penny of it....i got a QUALITY product for what i payed and i gained good power from them too....you pay a cheap price you get a cheap product....you get what you pay for..... |
Re: FLP's are in... whats that ticking?!?! For the record.. Im very happy with my purchase! Awesome fit and quality, install was a piece of cake, and the power and sound is awesome. I figure I would be happier in the long run if i went with top quality at a slower rate, rather than throwing on a bunch of cheaper and lower quality mods at once. FLP's and Corsa, I havent heard much better JMHO Sean |
Re: FLP's are in... whats that ticking?!?! Guy on this board just installed $400 hooker longtubes, no Y-pipe or cats or ORP. The whole idea of these F-Bodies I thought was great bang for the buck.IMHO 1200 for headers kind of contradicts that notion. Dude your right though if I had roughly $2000 to blow FLP's and a Corsa catback would be sweet. |
Re: FLP's are in... whats that ticking?!?! It sounds like your exhaust may be leaking at the v-clamps, I have the same problem. At one point I had the leaks completely fixed by putting some aluminum foil around the v-clamp connections, but they started leaking again after I put the cats back in. |
