SLP 233/239 Cam

Anyone have any experience with this cam? I can get this for a wholesale price, just wondering if anyone runs it, and if its similar to TSP's 233/239 cam.

what lobes? what's the lift? LSA?

Spoyld029 12-13-2006 02:58 PM

Sorry, I was just looking for the quality of the cams compared to the ones TSP sells, along with hardened pushrods, springs, etc.

WELL I MIGHT BE SELLIN MY tsp 233-239 3K MILES I LOVE IT BUT GOING 402

Go with a TSP grind as I have yet to see any SLP product really live up to its claimed numbers.

Like I Said Sell Ya Mine

Im sure SLP dosnt grind their own cams. I think the lift is .598/.603 and Ill bet its a comp grind on an XER lobe. This would make it identical to the TSP 233/239 cam, lsa and icl notwithstanding.

Not saying they do but with all the bad press about their products id tend to shy away from any internal mods. I still remeber all the issues people had with the SLP 402 shortblocks...

Agreed, but by virtue of teh fact they do little more than rebrand other items, some of them are still fairly decent products. SLP Underdrive pulleys are the same as powerbond pulleys, which are high quality. If indeed its a camp ground cam, Its fine quality and a proven performer.

However, unless youre buying a used product or are getting a great price on something, Id suggest buying an item from a better company, all things being equal.

Exactly I agree 100%, their headers (although they hang low) make good power, as do their lids, pullies, intake manifolds, etc I would just be weary on buying a cam from them as it would probably be the same price or more than one of the prove cam grinds from one of the sponsors. I shouldnt bash SLP as im sure they make decent products, I just feel that the sponsors on this board have a lot more time/effort/experience when it comes to cams/heads/etc than slp does and when putting down a lot of money for parts I always tend to go with the best.

SLP is also a sponsor --> For me it all boils down to: #1 Is the the best piece to attain my goals. #2 Is the deal I'm getting on it so good that I would have no problems selling it for what I paid for it. This is the beauty/frustration of the used car market. My advice is to call SLP ask them details so you don't have to listen to speculation on certain aspects
