2.5" or 3" Y pipe for Hooker LT's?

I am about to order some Hooker LT's, I have a thunder racing cam and intake, 4.10's etc. Is it worth trying to go with a 3" custom y pipe over a 2.5" and sacrificing clearance for the power difference? I will be using a flowmaster collector and buying the pre bent mandrel pipe and the exhaust shop will use regular pipe to connect the mandrel bends.

I just had a 3 inch Y-pipe made for my Macs with my head/cam package.. If I lost any torque I cant feel it down low. Actually I feel like I picked up some.. I had the guy put a 3 Inch flange on as well to respond like long tubes and it is all 3 inch all the way to the muffler..
