Ported MAF's

If using a ported MAF is bad for the car, then why do so many people do it? Not trying to be a smart ass but, I would like to know.TIA <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

They make your car run lean by a little bit. This is how they make power. BUT.... If you are going to shoot nitrous you don't want to run lean but you rather run rich. To lean = detonation.

Re: Ported MAF's

Actually, the power gains from a ported MAF come from the fact that the computer thinks the engine is under less load, so it adds a bit more timing. Typically right after a ported MAF it will run a lot leaner, but the computer compensates somewhat for that and adds a bit of fuel back in.

Your saying that a Ported MAF with nitous is bad. Thanks for that info, I was planning on purchasing a NOS wet kit for my 99 A4. I'm glad I found this out.
