What's the limit of the LS1?

What do you all think is the most RWHP/RWTQ that a N/A LS1 could put down.

Considering:
the LS6 intake is used
idle quality and mpg is not a concern
money no object

N/A the most I've seen is an MTI 422 solid-roller set up which made 540 rwhp. It is a C5, the car belongs to SW.

Was this the black Vette that ran the 9.99 or something like that? And didn't he use NOS for that run as well?

I heard that the most limiting factor of the LS1 is the intake, what can be gotten from the LS1 with an after market intake? In the 600's maybe.

600s are possible.

Wouldn't a 600 RWHP N/A car at full weight run low 9's and maybe even 8's?

Re: What's the limit of the LS1?

Quickin, the LS6 intake is definitely the restriction @ the 500+ rwhp. Yes it is SW's car that I'm talking about - on NOS he makes 750+ rwhp. The LS1 intake restricts power even at the heads/cam level.

I'm getting a ported LS6 intake with my ARE 436, will my engine be restricted? What if I wanted to go with the most radical cam as opposed to the more mild cam I selected, would it have breathing problems?

Thanks

Re: What's the limit of the LS1?

Don't forget that SW can drive the sh*t outta a car. I think that C5 has a lot left in it, but like his Supra (9.8's@155mph on a motor that's never had the head off) he tends to be easy out of the hole so he doesn't kill anything.

Also, my only concern w/the LS1 is how well the stock Aluminum block will hold up against high HP over an extended time.

Re: What's the limit of the LS1?

That's a difficult ine to answer because I've never seen a ported LS6 intake on a stroker, but I would guess it is going to be less restrictive then a stock LS6 intake.

Re: What's the limit of the LS1?

How about a super-stroker with TT's?

Re: What's the limit of the LS1?

I think there was a thread about the intake a while back. If I recall correctly MTI had ported the LS6 intake and caused the car to make more power but loose considerable torque.

"Wouldn't a 600 RWHP N/A car at full weight run low 9's and maybe even 8's?"

At full weight? Probably high 9s. Think of my car, add 70-80 RWHP, and then add 600 lbs.

Has anyone used the Holley intake yet? i would be interested to see what the Holley would do out of the box and then what it might do if it was extrude honed, assuming of course that it CAN be extrude honed....

If Lingenfelter wasn't such an AMAZING rip-off it would be great.

What does his 427 TT put down anyway? RWHP/RWTQ
