Bore and Stroke combo's

I am curious why none of the larger vendors have released a short stroke big bore engine yet. Something with a 4.8L crank, and a 4.1 bore would be nice for turning some serious RPM, and making good power, with less weight and less internal friction.

So, anyone thought of this? Applications?

a 3.26 stroke with a 4.155 bore would be 353 cubes, and would allow large valves and would scream.
So, am I gonna be the first?

Hmmm, a 3.26 stroke is less than the traditional stroke of a SBC. Would you want to buzz a motor like this up to 7500 rpms? I think you'd need a custom oiling system like a dry sump to do this reliably, and that's $$$$.

Re: Bore and Stroke combo's

Well, the old 327's were a 3.25 stroke, and the 283's and 302's were a 3.00 stroke. I have seen many of those turning close to 8K with a wet sump.
You cannot beat the power of a short stroke/big bore combo. They are not emmisions friendly though...

And Hello PSJ, I teched your car at the last NFRA event. Good luck to you in the future events.
