Crankshaft?
 

Hey guys I did a couple searches and kinda got some mixed opinions on my question here. I just bought a new LS2 bare block to build with the stock bore and stroke. I have a stock crank out of my 2000 LS1. Can I use this crank in the LS2? Any help would be apperciated. Thanks

Yes, your LS1 crank should work fine. What heads and intake do you plan on running? Are you planning to reuse a lot of your LS1 parts other than the crank? Describe your plan and goals.

I am building the LS2 for a T76 so I am going to use some stage 3 6.0 heads and probably just an LS6 intake. I would like to make around 700-800 RWHP with the help of some nitrous. And I am planning on using everything off my LS1 on the LS2 Thanks for the info and anymore would be apperciated

I wouldn't try to reuse your connecting rods with that much RWHP in mind. I would buy a set of Oliver billet rods (or something comperable) that can handle 1000+ HP. That being said, my reasoning is because at 800 RWHP you will be making close to 1000 HP at the flywheel. I have read other articles where they were making this amount of RWHP on the stock crank. Personally I would look into cryogenically treating the crank or buying a 4340 forged crank for added insurance to protect your investment.

For what you say you want to do, I'd recommend a forged iron block. Otherwise, you won't have any durability at all. If you were talking about 450 to 500 HP, I'd say the cast stock crank and rods (with improved bolts) would be fine. Since you want to push 800 HP, you need something stouter.
