What valve height/size do I need? Head Questions
Short story:
I'm doing an experiment with a local head porter. I just picked up a set of ls1 heads from Valvegod and I'm going to let my porter take a shot at them. I'm not going to be out much cash, so it is at least worth the experiment.
What I need to know is:
What valve height do I need?
I'm planning on going with 2.02/1.60. Any thoughts?
Any "gotcha" items to tell the porter about?
Thanks for any help,
Denzil

Most LS1 springs seem to call for 1.800" installed height.Tell your head porter to stay conservative on port volume, big flow in too large a port will not increase performance of your car, only the dyno will be rewarded by that type of work. Port shape is more important than enlargement of runners, work with the bias of the factory design port.Hope this helps, i dont want to **** off any sponsors so im done. Good luck.

Anything larger than 2.02/1.57 will require larger seats. So stay with those dimensions. The stock valves aren't that bad. Specs are 2.00 1.55, 8mm, and 4.915 (exaust) 4.900 (intake). I'm pretty sure those are the lengths but not positive.

Re: What valve height/size do I need? Head Questions
Thanks guys.
I'm not trying to **** any sponsors off either. Hell, 99% of my mod money goes to the sponsors on LS1tech.
I'm just looking to experiment a bit and see what this guy can do.

Before the head guy starts machining or grinding, measure and write down the valve stem tip height from the spring pad. That way when valve jobbing the heads for the larger valves, the proper tip length can be maintained. Proper tip length = correct rocker arm geometry.
