I can't wait to see the price list GRB is going to throw down to show me how someone is getting 12,000 simollies for a set of heads!

9,500 in port work and parts..........

Seems a little fishy, but maybe there is something I am not seeing!

As mentioned before I am getting a set and am interested in how this is all turning out.

If you do end up running the C5R heads I am under the impression that you need a custom manifold. If this is so I am sure you could set it up for a new bigger throttle body (100mm)

Yes, you absolutely have to have a custom intake manifold for the C5-R heads and yes, I'd go with a larger TB while I was doing it. Neither the LS1 nor the LS6 intake will work.

As I understand it none of the parts off the LS6 or LS1 heads will fit the C5R heads. The intake ports are a different design too.

LEO - the project is in the works. The deposit on both the car and the engine have been made. The car should be built soon and I'm taking delivery directly from GMMG. If the engine isn't ready when I get the car I'll get Lamar to go ahead and swap the LS6 engine into my SS.

BTW I'm gonna have an LS1 engine (2,500 miles), Z06 clutch and pressure plate and complete rear end (4:10) for sale.

Lamar will document the entire build up so if I can figure out how I'll post some pictures when we get started.

The slow down now is the C5R and gathering all the right parts. Matt has said he will install the engine for me if we get it built in time. I don't know how that will work out because I want to put the LS6 and headers in my 02 SS 1LE. Maybe Matt can take the engine out of my SS and give me the same credit that he would have for the original B4C LS1. Probably not though because he is goning to have 69 other LS1s to get rid of. We'll see.

You also get a choice of rear end gears in the ZL-1 and since we plan to swap the rear end out anyway it might be a good time to get the right gear ratio for a SS, A4, 1LE with the LS6 engine. Of course we'll do the torque converter at that time too.

I think I'll talk to Matt about just installing his LS6 in my SS, then I'll take the ZL1 to Lamar when all the parts are in and the engine is ready to install.

Colonel? One larger TB or two smaller? Which would be better? I've seen the intakes done both ways.

Red, I just saw the heads. My builder says one large. Also, to those who say the exhaust port is the same as an LS6 - they are not. So custom headers will have to be made. Also, we flowed them against all out LS6 heads and the C5R don't beat them by much and that's at very high RPMs and lift.

Man, that seems strange. The most I've ever heard an all out LS6 head flow was around 350cfm @ something like .650 lift. I've heard a ported C5R head can flow mid 400's. I don't know what type of lift thats at but, that is a substantial difference.

What's different about the exhaust ports? The description in the GM catalog says they are in the stock location compared to a LS1/LS6 head. Are they just bigger?

So what head do you think your gonna go with?

We're going with the C5R for the uniqueness. Lamar Walden Automotive flowed both heads today. This was apples to apples. The only diff came at higher lifts and higher RPMs. If they perform some kind of magic we'll find out on the dyno in a few months. The C5R head exhaust port is larger and looked to me more rectangular than the LS6. Not identical at all. Lamar will get them custom built. Looks like the intake will be Hogan unless somebody has a better idea. Titanium valves and some kind of copper beryllium seats. The springs are much larger. Intake chamber looks like something you'd see on a 409!

Sounds like a pain in the *** but Lamar and Rob said they can do it. So, away we go!
