Well since I got a couple thousand miles on them maybe I am in the clear..can't remember exactly when I got mine think it was back in june..have to check..

This has me worried. I'm about to do an install next week on someone's car and I think I may hold off until I hear something definite from comp about this crap. Something definitely sounds fishy. Up until recently, I hadn't heard of a single break. Now, at least 3 in the past 2 weeks...

I see that MTI now offers Manley springs and retainers. What about the LS-1 springs from Manley or Isky?

I have no clue how Comp will handle the situation, I know they will stand behind them like all there great products I would assume. I have 5 cars running around out there with the springs in question and I called them all back in for exchange because I don't need any of my head purchasing customers to go through what I just did. Now, off to another spring, the Manleys are good for cams under 218 dur, but thats still no gaurentee that there going to be fine because I had a breakage of a set of Nex Tek springs on a 218 cam car.

I am about to do a cam swap myself and was worried about the 918s so I called comp today the tech I talked to said to stay away from the 918s they are making the 915s to replace them whether he is pulling my leg or not I have no idea has anyone else heard of this.I might even go with kmotions.

If this problem does stem from a few bad batches, will somebody (you would think Comp) please post the cutoff purchase date of the springs that can be trusted. This is total BS letting people destroy their engines. I have about 400 miles on mine and I'm parking it until this is settled. <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Has comp informed anyone of the Build Dates of the questionable 918's? I'll be calling them today to try to get some information.

I bought my cam package from Thunder in May, only heat cycled once then drove home (200 miles) from Mikey @Rapidmotorsport, so far I have 4K miles and have been beating the snot out of it everyday, see 6600~6700rpm few times a week, so far so good <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I guess I'm one of the many lucky one, sorry to hear about the broken springs, hope they fix the issue

so are the 915's supposed to be better or something??

i wish someone at comp would speed up this process. I would actaully like to drive/race my car in 2 years <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

my spring was still wel enough intact that the valve didnt drop fsar enough to hit a piston so i think im in the clear. Ill fire her up sometime tonight to be sure <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

maybe if enough of us file a lawsuit against comp something would get rolling lol <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

wheres the build date of them? i have almost 2K miles on mine with 2 track trips. i installed them a couple of weeks ago....

I dont think the whole batch was bad though cause there would probably be alot more breaking

but to update my breakage: I replced the broken 918 and went out and the car seems to do great up to 4k. Right now im not going any higher till Comp gets back to me. But if i had a bent valve i surely couldnt feel it. With the converter unlocked it felt as strong as always <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Got my GTP heads in early june with 918s (ordered in March). I have 1500 miles on them. Not sure how nervous I should be, but if I destroy my motor the car will have to sit until next summer.

I am definitely nervous.
