I feel sick... don't work on your car late at night... help please...
Ok I'm working on my car, I changed the valve stem seals. Putting everything back together, and I put my rockers on, and torque them to 22 ft lbs. I go and bump the motor over, so I could retorque them and make sure everything was good. LUCKILY my battery was almost dead, it didn't turn much. I forgot to put the rocker arm pedestal things back on, and trashed my pushrods. I broke one in half, and bent a few more. I was able to run to Livernois real quick and pick up a new set (Thanks Dave) and put them in, but do you guys think I did any more damage than messing up a nice perfectly good set of pushrods? I'm concerned I might have bent a valve. I feel really sick right now, so any help/input is appreciated. Thanks!
edit: the pushrods I bent and broke were TSP 7.4 .080 hardened ones if it matters, I relaced all of them just to be safe even though a few of them looked ok still...

Unfortunately there's a fair chance that you bent valves. The pushrods broke because the valves hit the pistons or bottomed out. Do a leak down and compression test, that will tell you where you are.

All intake valves are bent. Picking up new heads in the morning, along with new lifters and whatnot. Dammit. I've taken these things apart a million times, I can't believe I forgot something that stupid.

It sounds stupid but I would pull your spark plugs out and see if they wre damaged that will give you a good Idea if the valves or anything else was trashed.
Actually the safest way to go is to take off the heads you dont want any loose metal in your combustion chamber.

hey dont let that hurt your ego, lots of people make silly mistakes. its hard to see how you forgot those, but Ive done a few things like that at work over the years.
the worst one was swapping a fuel inj. on an older 4 cyl car, and the fuel ran right into the cyl through the inj. hole. sure enough, didnt notice that part, crank it over afterwards and boom. bent rod. doh!!!! live and learn buddy.
BTW, arent you the fella that sold me and my pops the convo pro's a couple years ago?

Sorry to hear about your luck. I've almost screwed a few things up. That's why I always have someone check over my work. For a second opinion. It really helps.
Take your time, most of all. Good luck.

If anyone needs me I'll be in the back yard digging a hole to fall into after I shoot myself.
