Default Finished MS4 swap

I finished installing my cam this morning, started it and the oil pressure was at 40 psi and when I backed it into the driveway it dropped to 20 psi.
Is that normal?
The car hasnt even been running 5 minutes and is still cold

Mine did the same thing when I first fired it up then jumped to around 60psi and stayed there.

Did you remember the oil pickup tube if you did te BP oil pump at the same time as the swap?

It should not be that low. Did you replace the oil pump and oring? Sounds like the oring might be torn or not seated properly

NM. yes, i did but its okay now, just not idleing very well and only low at idle. if you givr it the slightest bit of gas it jumps back up immediately to 40..

just drve it around the block and man it sounds wicked...

Mine does the same thing but only goes down to about 30psi. at idle and 40psi at cruise and about 65-70psi at WOT. Im not too concerned about it.

when I first did my MS4 sawp(4000 miles ago) my oil pressure was 40 hot idle(60 cold start) and about 50ish cruising 1500 rpm. my car idles at 900-950 also. but I do fear my oil pump is going bad now. it was down to 20 at hot idle but I changed the filter and the pressure came right back.

im a little worried... its at 10-20 psi when idle but idles around 7-900 rpms (really low). i can give it a little gas and it will move up a little. once i start to go, it moves up to around 40psi. a little less sometimes but havnt seen it go over 40. I hsrdley drilled out the TB so could that maybe be the prob? i just put on a ported pump but if i had pinched the o-ring, there wouldnt hardley be any pressure right?

if you pinched the ring, pressure would not go past 40 psi when the rpms climb

check the o ring and if that's in order then replace the oil pressure sending unit. Do not put any stress on the motor until you get it fixed. replacing $50 bucks of parts that you might not need to is a pain in the ***. Buying a new short block, will make you tear your hair out.

I am thinking it is the o-ring. The sending unit shouldn't have been messed with unless he swapped intakes as well. You did torque all the bolts to the correct specs right? Cam retaining plate, timing chain, etc?

I had the same problem few weeks ago. You need to put in a new O ring. I wish when we buy parts especially oil pumps they sell it with the O ring.
