I've searched... what direction do the ARP washers go on the head studs?

I'm about ready to start clamping down my head after isntalling the studs into the block.

The head is on the car, but the washers definitely have a top and bottom, which way is which? Is the side with the bevel on the inner hole go on facing up or down?
I would think that the flat surface would go on the head and the bevel would be where the bolt comes in contact, but I would just like confirmation.
THanks.

Man I love this site... Thanks. That's what I figured, but it never hurts to ask.

Yes, beveled side goes up. Don't forget to back them off half a turn after the studs bottom out.

I backed them off about 1/4 turn as I've read that some people don't back them off at all, while others like yourself go 1/2 a turn.

After putting on the passenger side last night, I am so happy that I went with studs. It was so much easier than dealing with torque to yeild bolts, plus the arp studs are more accurate since most of us use the sharpie method and approximate the amount turned as opposed to the proper method of using an angle gauge.

Also, it was actually easier torquing the bolts to 65ft/lbs compared to the final pass on torque to yeild.
