Default jrp lifter holding tool, anyone make their own?

im doing a cam swap really soon but im not removing the heads, just swapping springs. this tool looks like it will hold the lifters for you easily and safely, anyone used it? to me it looks like i can hit up a hardware store and simply, buy a couple of pieces of metal rods. not being cheap but the tool looks a little over priced.
..to anyone that asks thunder racing sells them

We used some metal brake lines (the ones you get from the parts store) just cut one end of it off and no issues, and it didnt peel any metal either.

Go to home depot and pick up two 5/16" aluminum dowels and cut them to 2 feet. They work a lot better than the flimsy wooden dowels and are only like 3-4 bucks for both.

I had some 1/4 or so plastic tubing that I put a coat hanger thru to keep it straight and shoved that in there. It worked great and was free.

I've helped to do one LS1 cam swap, we trusted the Lifter trays to work, I wish there was a pic to slow me where they insert.

It will be SO obvious when you get down to the cam.

I used 1/4" wood dowel and it did hold the lifters from falling in the motor. But, I should have used 5/16" because 1/4" keep them from falling out, but not from falling down some (I had to pop 2 of them in the back of the block back up). The added friction from the 5/16" dowel would have been a better idea. Anyway, I would use 5/16" wood dowels if it were me. If you are using pen magnets make sure they won't fall apart and that they are pretty strong, IMO.
