Is the Cloyes-IRL a double roller? If not, I believe a single roller will always be a step behind a double roller setup. A double roller has two chains and two sets of gears

This one should be pretty decent by Cloyes

However, I don't think it's any better really than the double Rollmaster mentioned above.

I have the 2x Rollmaster and it's a nice piece. My SRP my H&C installer was very fussy about quality and more importantly SRP like the 2x Rollmaster well enough that they said the would suggest it to future customers. I think you can spend more money but the 2x Rollmaster will be fine unless your making over 1000 hp.

It was not two seperate single chains.

Just goin out on a limb here, but whats wrong with stock. I run the stocker with no problems whatsoever. I think its fine as long as you dont mechanically overrev the motor. See sig for #s and times on stock bottom end.
BTW, dont get me wrong, Im sure these other setups are better, my question lies with why bother fixing something that isnt broke?

At least one broke under normal driving on the street. When the stock chain breaks...bye bye valves. Some engine have survived an oil pump that craps out...I'm not aware of a single LS1 that survived a broke timing chain. Stock chain isn't the best quality. The cam timing isn't as accurate with the sloppy stock chain either. Underdrive pulleys that don't dampen vibrations properly may put the stock chain at even more risk. $85 isn't much vs what it would cost fix an engine that stock chain breaks on. For that matter their is a $65 one that's not heat treated and an single one that's ~$50 or less. Might as well do it when doing a cam
