retainers? Couple of other q's. tr 224 cam with 918 springs and pushrods, 00, z28, m6. Do I need to order retainers? how high can I spin the motor? Seems like 6500-6800 is the norm. Do I also need magnets to hold the lifters? Or is there a different way to keep the lifters out of the way? Thanks Sean |
Re: retainers? Couple of other q's. No, you can use your stock retainers with the 918 springs. I spun my 224/112 to 6500 RPM with the 918's. You can use the magnets as insurance, but all you need to do is spin the cam around in the block a few times and that will seat the lifters up in the block with friction. I usually have the old cam out and the new cam in within 5 minutes. I would not wait around if you dont use magnets. Its a long, silent (hopefully <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> ) couple minutes. |
