whats the difference between the two? and whats the price difference

what blocks are you looking at. a stock GM ls1 block is pretty cheap, but a aftermarket warhawk, or DART are quite expensive- 2000+

The aftermarket blocks can take a lot more abuse. Some of the blocks can go to 500+ci. If you have the money the aftermarket block gives you more options, if on a budget get a ls2 or a lq9 for displacement, and go from there.
